A LIFE OF SERVICE

Massachusetts Medal of Valor

In 2024, Jack was awarded the Massachusetts Medal of Valor for his courageous actions during an armed standoff where he helped protect fellow officers and innocent hostages.

While the recognition is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a police officer, those who know Jack understand he never sought recognition. He simply did what needed to be done.

Jack is a graduate of both Springfield College and Merrimack College, earning degrees in criminology before beginning the career he always dreamed of. Becoming a police officer wasn’t simply a job—it reflected who he has always been: dependable, compassionate, and willing to put others before himself.

WHY JACK NEEDS HELP

A Battle He Never Chose

Jack has been living with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a rare genetic kidney disease that slowly destroys kidney function. It is something he was born with and completely beyond his control.

Because the disease is genetic, many members of Jack’s family are unable to donate a kidney. Anyone carrying the same gene cannot be considered as a living donor, making the search for a matching donor much more difficult.

Today, Jack undergoes dialysis three days every week. While dialysis keeps him alive, it is not a cure. It is physically exhausting, time-consuming, and forces him to plan his life around treatments.

Despite these challenges, Jack continues serving as a police officer, showing the same dedication to others that has defined his entire life. His greatest hope is receiving a life-saving kidney transplant from an angel donor.

Current Journey

  • ✓ Rare genetic kidney disease (FSGS)
  • ✓ Dialysis three times each week
  • ✓ Waiting for a kidney transplant
  • ✓ Continues serving as a police officer
  • ✓ Searching for a living donor
